"Be sure to make mistakes. Make a lot of them, because there's no better way to learn and to grow."

1st Season
In this season Jen Lindley is introduced as an outsider, the girl from the big city. She had moved from New York to live with her grandmother (Grams) after she was kicked out of her parents house because she was so out of control. When she arrives, she is immediately introduced to Dawson, Joey and Pacey and is attracted to 15 year old Dawson Leery. They dated on and off throughout the first season which caused tension in her relationship with Joey. Jen became jealous when they broke up and Dawson wanted Joey so she did everything in her power to prevent their relationship, including being Dawson's way of trouble teaching - him to be more 'rebellious'. This including stealing from shop and skinny dipping.
2nd Season
For majority of this season Jen isolated herself from the other 'main' characters and became friends with a girl with a bad reputation of trouble- making, Abby Morgan. The two of them drank and paid little attention to school and were altogether disrespectful to the people around them. When Abby dies due to a drinking incident Jen read an insulting eulogy which led to Grams kicking her out of home and she moves in with Jack McPhee, who later goes back to live with her at Grams's house. The two become very close.
3rd Season
The 3rd season for Jen is all about trying to right herself and, with Jack at her side she begins to be more friendly and lovable. When Jack joins the school football team she joins the cheer-squad- later to be cornered by freshmen Henry Parker. They get together some time after and remain together for the remainder of the season, but not before Jen and Pacey decide to have a sexual relationship- no strings attached. They didn't last long because Pacey started liking Joey so Jen and Henry got together.
Jen's mother returns to Capeside to visit Jen after no contact for a few years and their relationship, although still rust, has improved.
                                                      4th Season:

Jen becomes closer and closer to Jack, who is practically adopted into her family and she helps her through the break up with Henry. In this season Jen  is reluctant to put in her applications for university and Jack and Grams work together to complete them for her. After they graduate, Jen and Jack decided to go in collage together in Boston.
5th Season
In this season Grams decides to move to Boston to be with her granddaughter and Jack and gives them a place to stay. Jen loses her close relationship with Jack because he becomes obsessed with a fraternity that he joined and his new found alcoholic addictions. She accompanies Dawson to a film festival and acts as his 'girlfriend' and the two actually sleep together and dive into a serious relationship. She broke it up after because she felt it was the wrong thing to do. After some serious talking to Jack, he quits the fraternity and his stops his drinking addict and the two go to take a summer vacation but she ends up on a holiday at her parents- something she hasn't done for a long time.
6th Season:
This season mainly focuses on how Jen deals with he news of Grams breast cancer. She doesn't tell her best friend (Jack) or current boyfriend C.J, until it becomes too much and she forces her grandmother into a position where she has to tell them. She called her mother over and the two find ways to help Grams and they, including Jack, decided to move to New York with Jens mum so Grams can undergo treatment.

Series Finale (Jacks point of view)

5 years later Jack is a teacher at his old high school- Capeside. He is in a relationship with Pacey's older brother, Doug. In the 5 years he and Jen remained best friends and he had watched as she became a single mother with her one year old daughter, Amy. When he, Jen, Joey, Pacey and Dawson re-unite back in Capeside they are all, including him, shocked to see Jen faint on the dance floor at Gail's wedding and to later find out that she is suffering heart problems with no cure available.  She leaves a heartbreaking video message for her daughter and gets visit from her old friend Andie McPhee before Jack, her best friend and ultimate soulmate, realises that her time is up and he has to say goodbye to her. He vowed to take care of his goddaughter, Amy, and he and Doug commit to raising her together.
